Travelport Forges AI Trio with Anthropic & Cognizant

27 May 2026 – Travelport has announced a strategic, multi-year partnership with AI leader Anthropic and enterprise specialist Cognizant to embed advanced AI directly into the core of its travel commerce platform.

The collaboration aims to solve a critical industry gap: connecting AI-driven travel inspiration with real, bookable transactions. By integrating Anthropic’s Claude model family into its cloud-native TripServices API layer, Travelport is building infrastructure that can handle natural language search, intent, and context — not just keyword queries.

Why This Matters
  • While travellers increasingly use conversational AI to plan trips, most booking systems were not built for this shift, causing breakdowns at the point of purchase. Travelport’s initiative directly links AI discovery to live inventory, pricing, and servicing.

The Role Of Partners
  • Anthropic provides Claude’s large-context reasoning, safety, and reliability for high-stakes travel transactions.
  • Cognizant brings enterprise-scale AI delivery to ensure the initiative moves beyond a proof-of-concept into real-world implementation.
Initial Impact Will Be Seen In Two Areas
  1. Internal engineering: Claude will accelerate software design, testing, and maintenance, boosting delivery speed and code quality.
  2. The Travelport platform: AI capabilities become native features for airlines, agencies, and OTAs, eliminating the need for them to build their own AI stacks.
AI And Future

“This is not a statement of intent,” Travelport stated. “We are becoming the infrastructure layer for AI-driven travel commerce.” The work begins immediately, with customers expected to see new AI-powered capabilities in the coming months.
